Define a relevant purchase
Choose product descriptions, a reporting market and a time window. Check whether the importer field identifies a consignee, declarant or another party.
Review activity over time
Look at shipment timing, declared volume and repeat activity where available. A one-off record and repeated purchases tell different stories, without guaranteeing future demand.
Check company identity
Spelling variants can split the same business across records. Keep the original names and document any grouping rather than assuming every matching name is the same legal entity.
Qualify outside the dataset
Research the company website, business role and product fit. An observed importer is a research lead, not a verified decision-maker or a promise of sales.
